As we move into the final weekend of the London 2012 Olympic competition, I continue to be amazed at the speed of Usain Bolt. Man, he is FAST! 9.63 seconds to run 100-metres? To put that into perspective, that means his sprinting speed is about 37 km/h or just over 23 mph. I think it takes about 9 seconds for my 4-cylinder, 12-year-old car to get to 23 mph. Earlier today or tonight if you are reading this in the UK (thanks for subscribing UK followers!) Bolt completed an unprecedented sweep in back-to-back Games by winning the 200-metre race in just over 19 seconds.
More Olympic congratulations goes to our Canadian women’s soccer team, who captured the bronze medal today; some redemption after losing a tough match against the U.S. squad earlier this week. I didn’t get a chance to see the match but I read it was a gutsy performance. Well done team!
Briefly, in business news, I was happy to read BCE decided to increase their dividend by $0.10 to $2.27 per share. Thanks for the raise folks and keep them coming
In case you missed it earlier this week, I’m giving away a book: The Beginner’s Guide to Saving and Investing for Canadians. This 100-page guide is divided into five chapters, each written by a contributor with expertise in a specific area. I enjoyed this book and I hope you do as well. You can buy it here. Your chance to win a copy of this book continues next week but I thought I’d remind you to enter the random draw all the same.
